In the last 20 minutes, Air France flight AF6226 bound for Nice declared an emergency and returned to Paris Orly.

In the last 20 minutes, Air France flight AF6226 bound for Nice declared an emergency and returned to Paris Orly.

Air France flight AF6226, which declared an emergency, is a routine scheduled flight between Paris Orly and Nice.

Furthermore, the aircraft involved in the incident is F-GRHF.

As per data from Planespotters.net, F-GRHF is a 25.1 year old Airbus A319 that was delivered to the airline in June 1999.

Of the A319-100 variant, Air France has 11 of them in the fleet.

Furthermore, of that 11, all but one are in active service, with an average fleet age of 22.7 years.

AF6226 departed Paris Orly at 1907 local time tonight and initially climbed south towards Nice.

Over the Nevers area, the aircraft made a u-turn and subsequent emergency 7700 broadcast.

Not long after that, the aircraft made a priority landing into Orly without further incident.

At this stage, it is currently unclear what the reason for the emergency was on Air France flight AF6226 Paris-Nice.

Whatever the issue is, it was serious enough to prompt a return back to Orly and to declare a mayday.
