Egyptair Flight Mumbai-Cairo Declares Emergency: Doha Diversion

In the last 10-15 minutes, an Egyptair flight between Mumbai and Cairo has declared an emergency, resulting in a diversion to Doha, Qatar.

There is limited information surrounding this incident.

In the last 10-15 minutes, an Egyptair flight between Mumbai and Cairo has declared an emergency, resulting in a diversion to Doha, Qatar.

Egyptair flight MS969, which declared an emergency and diverted to Doha, is a routine scheduled flight between Mumbai and Cairo.

The aircraft involved in this incident is registered as SU-GEI.

As per data from Planespotters.net, SU-GEI is a 7.0 year old Boeing 737-800 that was delivered to the airline in May 2017.

Of the 737-800 variant, Egyptair has 30 in their expansive fleet.

Furthermore, of that 30, all but three are in active service, hosting an average fleet age of 12.3 years.

Egyptair flight MS969, which declared an emergency and diverted to Doha, departed Cairo at 0300 local time this morning.

Upon passing the UAE airspace, the aircraft declared an emergency and proceeded to descend.

Around three hours and 30 minutes away from the Egyptian capital, the aircraft proceeded to divert to Doha.

It is understood that the aircraft landed safely without further incident at 0155 UK time.

Cause is Unknown…

Furthermore, at this stage, it is unclear what the nature of the emergency is onboard Egyptair flight MS969 Mumbai-Cairo which diverted to Doha.

What we do know is that the emergency was serious enough to cause a diversion to the Qatari airport.
