The relationship between KLM and Delta Air Lines has been in place for the last 15 years.

Through Joint Ventures as well as the two sides’ partnerships in the SKYTEAM alliance, they have provided a strong offering globally.

It is also key to note that Delta Air Lines has a 3% stake in the Dutch carrier amongst stakes in other airlines.

The new Amsterdam-Portland flights means that this will be KLM’s 21st destination in North America.

In conclusion, this is more good news for KLM as they can expand their North America presence with these new Amsterdam-Portland flights.

With them taking over from Delta Air Lines on this route, it is expected that demand levels will be similar.

It is clear also that it is a popular route in the Summer, with less demand seen in the Winter, traditionally.

Overall, all eyes will be on how these new flights perform on the Dutch side of the partnership they have with their American counterparts.
