United Boosts Flights to Major Political Events This Summer

3 min read

As the United States gears up for pivotal political conventions, United Airlines is enhancing its flight schedules to accommodate the influx of attendees.

This strategic move aims to provide streamlined travel options for convention delegates, enthusiasts, and observers alike.

Republican National Convention

For the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee this July, United is ramping up its operations by an impressive 75%. This translates to nearly 5,000 additional seats available for those eager to participate in the historic event.

The airline will operate over 280 flights to and from Milwaukee during the convention week, including a new nonstop service between Milwaukee and Washington Reagan Airport.

Moreover, United is bolstering its offerings with 72 additional flights from its major hubs, including Chicago O’Hare, New York/Newark, Denver, Washington Dulles, and Houston.

To accommodate the surge in demand, the airline will also deploy larger aircraft, with 20 roundtrip flights scheduled on these larger planes.

Democratic National Convention

As the nation’s attention shifts to the Democratic National Convention in Chicago in August, United is pulling out all the stops.

The airline will operate its largest Chicago O’Hare schedule since 2019. This year will see over 530 flights per day on peak convention days.

A notable highlight is the addition of 38 extra flights between Chicago O’Hare and Washington Reagan Airport. These will all be operated by the state-of-the-art Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, featuring United’s signature interiors.

Furthermore, United is boosting connectivity between Chicago O’Hare and a number of cities. These includes Albany, Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Boston, Portland, Phoenix, Sacramento, San Diego, San Jose, and Seattle. Over 80 additional flights are scheduled during the convention period.

Celebrating the Political Process

Patrick Quayle, United’s Senior Vice President of Global Network Planning and Alliances gave comment on the flight scheduling.

“These conventions are steeped in tradition and have now evolved to become a weeklong celebration of our political process.”

“We’re proud to give people even more options to visit two great cities and participate in these historic events and make their voices heard.”

Tickets for these enhanced flight schedules are now available for purchase on the United app and the airline website. This ensures convenient access for those seeking to experience the nation’s democratic process first hand.
