Helldivers 2 kicked things off this week with another major order and a new mission in tow. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been smooth sailing for Super Earth’s soldier since the developers revealed that the Dark Fluid objective is bugged. The sheer number of Terminids that spawn while you inject Meridia with viscous, planet-destroying goo wasn’t intentional, so a hotfix is now in the works. Luckily, there is a lone bright spot that players have found throughout these dark Galactic Wartimes: the Dark Fluid jump pack.

Now, if you’ve been playing Helldivers 2 since launch, you’re probably already familiar with the Jump Pack stratagem. As the name implies, this item gives you a nice fuel-powered boost that can help you navigate over obstacles or escape from an oncoming horde. However, it also leaves plenty to be desired; aside from giving you an easier time traversing the game’s terrain, it doesn’t do much else. On the other hand, the Dark Fluid jump pack is the complete opposite.

The Dark Fluid jump pack has a faster cooldown and provides a bigger boost. Plus, the discharge it emits can hurt nearby enemies, giving you another damage source in case you get overrun. Naturally, its design has some players, like u/Stoukeer, asking Arrowhead Game Studios to make this into the default jump pack since the current one is barely usable. The developers could even introduce it as a new stratagem, much like how it was the new Emancipator Exosuit.

Of course, this is still mere speculation since the Helldivers 2 dev team is also busy addressing many of the community’s complaints, including weapon rebalancing.
