Toronto Pearson International Airport still needs additional flights to beat pre-pandemic figures, according to data from RadarBox.com.

Whilst the airport is still providing growth increases compared to the same period last year, more is still needed for that all-important 2019 figure.

Without further ado, let’s get into it…

For November 14-21, Toronto Pearson handled 1,078 movements based on a seven-day rolling average provided by the flight tracking company.

This represents an increase of 6.31% compared to the same period last year, but is still 148 movements shy of the pre-pandemic figures recorded in 2019.

Below is the last four weeks’ worth of data based on the airport’s performance:

Date 2019 Numbers 2022 Numbers 2023 Numbers Percentage Difference (2023 vs. 2022)
October 17-24 1280 movements 1036 movements 1089 movements +5.12%
October 24-31 1172 movements 1043 movements 1079 movements +3.45%
October 31-November 7 1208 movements 1002 movements 1030 movements +2.79%
November 7-14 1206 movements 971 movements 1056 movements +8.75%

What we can see from the data is that Toronto Pearson International Airport is performing better than last year on the seven-day rolling averages, but more is needed to get closer to 2019 levels.

Addressing criticism that this is in the winter periods, this critique doesn’t stand as the same levels have been replicated throughout the Summer season as well.

All eyes will be on the airport to see what other flights they could introduce in the future to get to that all important pre-pandemic figure moving forward.
