United Airlines Flight UA989 Washington-Frankfurt Declares Emergency

A United Airlines flight enroute to Frankfurt from Washington has declared an emergency in the last few moments.

United Airlines flight UA989, operated by a Boeing 777-300ER, declared an emergency, squawking transponder code 7700. The flight has now conducted a turnaround and appears to be returning to Washington.

The nature of the emergency prompting the decision to divert is not yet known.
